Nourishing Lip Balm Recipe

Making your own lip balm is fun, easy and ensures you know exactly what’s going on your lips. With simple, natural ingredients you’ll have soft, hydrated lips in no time!
What You’ll Need:
✔ Beeswax pellets (or Candelilla wax for a vegan option) – 1 tablespoon
✔ Shea butter – 1 tablespoon
✔ Coconut oil or Sweet almond oil – 1 tablespoon
✔ Vitamin E oil – 3-5 drops (optional, for extra nourishment)
✔ Essential oils of choice (like peppermint, vanilla or lavender) – 5 drops
✔ Mica powder (for colour) – ¼ to ½ teaspoon, depending on desired tint
✔ Lip balm tubes or tins for storage
✔ Double boiler or heatproof glass jar in a saucepan
✔ Stirring stick or small spoon
How to Make It:
- Melt the ingredients – In a double boiler (or a glass jar in a saucepan of simmering water), melt the beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil together, stirring gently until fully combined.
- Remove from heat – Once melted, take it off the heat and let it cool slightly.
- Add essential oils – Stir in essential oils and vitamin E oil and mica powder if using.
- Pour into containers – Carefully pour the mixture into lip balm tubes or tins.
- Let it set – Allow your lip balm to cool and harden for at least an hour before using.
